شفقنا افغانستان- پاپ فرانسیس به لهستان- زادگاه پاپ ژان پل دوم – رفته و در این سفر به اردوگاه مرگ نازی ها نیز سری زده است.
رهبر کاتولیک های جهان به اردوگاه کار اجباری آشوویتس در چند کیلومتری شهر کراکوف در لهستان رفت و به قربانیان این اردوگاه ادای احترام نمود و با تنی چند از بازماندگان آن نیز دیدار و گفتگو کرد. پاپ در این بازدید از در معروف این اردوگاه و از زیر جمله مشهور کار آزادی می کند، رد شد و به درون اردوگاه رفت.
